Roomine Pension HE SAID: For all you men looking for a way to both dazzle and inspire the women in your life, I have a secret that is nothing short of extraordinary: ROOMINE. In a place as hotel saturated as Jeju, there are pensions, and then there are PENSIONS. Recently I had the opportunity of discovering the latter and want to spread the word about our positive experience there. On the northwest side of the island near shell beach off the coastal road is a particularly unique looking building. It stands apart from all those in the area because the architecture is not reminiscent of the typical Jeju style. Roomine is anything but traditional. With an open concept design, sleek modern look and vibrant decorative styling, the place screams “retro-cool California”.

Pet friendly Jeju, Jeju, South Korea

Pet Friendly 1 Who says you can’t choose your family? If you’re like me, a fellow pet owner here on Jeju, you understand how important health and happiness are for your furry (or feathery) family members. It’s safe to say that owning and taking good care of a pet anywhere is a huge responsibility; however, it’s even more difficult in a foreign country - not to mention an island where the culture of pet ownership and care hasn’t been cultivated for a long time. I’ve had my puppy, Bubak, for three months now and, during that time, it’s been a challenge to find the right vet, the right park (see Information 4), the right food and the right kennel for her well-being. Although I do not claim to be an expert in Jeju pet care, I will offer some modest and heart-felt advice to all you current and potential pet owners.

CNU On May 27th, 1952 Cheju Provinical Junior College was established. This institution would later (March 1, 1962) become what it is known today as Cheju National University. Cheju National University boasts three qualities as its primary principles: Truth, Justice and Creativity, all of which combine together to form the university’s motto of “Explore the Universe and Its Creation.” Aside from being Korea’s 5th largest university, with a student population of 10,673, Cheju National also includes 9 colleges, 11 faculties, 24 major options, a university hospital, 46 departments with 10 department groups and 2,525 annual available admission positions (http://www.cheju.ac.kr:8080/eng/status/sta02.jsp). That’s not too shabby considering the school has only been around for less than 60 years.

Jeju fashion, Jeju, South Korea

Jeju Fashion (4) All right all you fashionistas and fashion-lovers out there. We all know that when it comes to style and fashion in Korea, Seoul is the most obvious choice for the place to be, see and be seen. However, walking around Jeju recently has made me appreciate some of the unique fashion and trends this little island has to offer. Obviously, Jeju does lack the size and amount of retailers, which cities such as Seoul and Busan possess, but I believe that there are definite treasures to be found, eyed and bought.
